My friend Johnny was an oil worker. He was always angry at the EPA. He thought he was making them rich and he knew he could not support his family on his salary. However, I never knew a Friday night to go by without him and his buddies stopping at the Fire Cracker Saloon. And I always left before they did. I heard all the stories about the rascals from the EPA. I simply could not believe all of them. One night Johnny came to the Fire Cracker with a big grin on his face because the following morning he was taking a bus to Indianapolis to start his new job as a field inspector for the EPA. Needless to say he made a good deal more than what he did as an oil worker.
