Seeing the Man, 1987 Oil on Canvas 44 x 46 Inches Signed Lower Left Exhibited, Sherry French Gallery, New York, NY; November 1993, The Center for the Performing and Visual Arts, Munster, IN

What Man? Who is this Man? It appears that the girl looking up at him on the steel cross... do you see her... right there, looking up and dressed in those tight leather pants… she knows... l'll ask... She says "Yes, I knew him. He was a man not at all like you because he lived without sin and he claimed to be the son of God... That's why his enemies had him crucified."Oh....I see.."No you don't, because he also claimed to be the son of Man... like you."But why then did they crucify him? And why is he on this steel I-beam, just hanging there with steel rivets in his hands and feet? He'll die soon, right?Yes… he probably will.But... Why?Because you and I were born like all other mortals and we are modern people who find it difficult to perceive of such a situation"Oh ... I see."No you don't"
